Anyone have experience copping a Rolex Stainless steel from boutique?

Has anyone managed to cop a stainless steel rolex sub from a boutique? I'm reading around online and it seems like it's a lot harder than I realized to get one.

Have any of you managed to cop one as a first time buyer and what was the process?

Rolex is a complete joke now. Insanely overpriced for what they are on the secondary market and there's no way you're getting an SS model without a relationship, especially a sub. Even some of the garbage models like the colored DJs are harder than they should be to get.

My advice is to pick up a used SS sports watch made by Omega or spend ~$12k - $15k and get a used Lange which will destroy anything Rolex.

It's possible but you have the be persistent and get a little lucky. I cold called boutiques for a few months until I randomly called one that happened to have a sub I was looking for. He made sure I was local and wasn't planning on flipping it before admitting he had one. Most boutiques will laugh when you call and ask about sports models.

I always wanted a Submariner when I got a big promotion/bonus, which happened this month. However, the brand has really pissed me off. I feel no need to beg and plead to give someone $10k so I'll likely go with something else. I have a close family friend that owns a Rolex AD and I can pretty much get any Rolex I want, but the brand has pissed me off so much that I likely won't even buy one.

With that being said, anyone have any good recommendations for something different?
