Anyone know if any school offers research in the field of economics?
Hello folks! I am trying to apply for a research position in economics for next year... Do you guys know schools that offer these programs? I know that Johns Hopkins does (Institute of Applied Economics).
I live in Maryland so I'm looking for something around the east coast (Maryland, Penn, NY, Massachusetts,...). But if I had to move elsewhere I have no problem..
-Thank you
MIT JPAL Lab offers various opportunities
I did research freshman year for an econ professor. I was introduced through an alumni in my fraternity who did similar work a few years before. The position was unpaid but got great experience as a freshman and added a good resume builder.
This prof. was writing a book at the time on behavioral economics, but Id imagine that there should be a few professors at most universities willing to take on research assistants.
Best thing to do would be to ask your professors. Some hire undergrad RAs. Other option would be to try to work at a research institute like the Fed. Also, google "REU economics"
Just email your professors until somebody says 'yes.' You won't be doing groundbreaking work but it'll be a great opportunity to enhance your understanding of the field, show your passion for economics, and get some substantial research experience on your resume.
Big thanks to all of you!
Hello Guys, I am also planning to apply to UMD. But just saw the tuition, looks very expensive. Is it worth all the money? Plus I will be leaving there with family and I can not work with gov for few more years for Visa reasons. I have applied to other schools but none has replied so far. And its already Feb so am not sure how much money they have to offer for an international student as a scholarship.
MSFin, Smith business school is a great deal. If you want to get here, you need at least 3.5 GPA and a powerful resume. I'm going to pm you the contact of one of the Pre-Transfer advisors for UMD :)
The school I attended offered that. It is all a matter of getting to know the faculty.
@JonDoe we can approach the faculty after being accepted in the college, right?
I have never tried doing it before enrollment has started. If you are unsure, ask people you know who go to that university.
What's the question here? @msfin
@ ANT.... I spoke with Villanova MSF program staff this morning the lady sounded positive about my profile. Do you think it will be too ambitious for me? Is it too late ? (I asked the staff this q, she said no)
