No. From analysts to MDs at my firm, Apple watches can be seen at every level.
I work on the west coast so that be a factor but I have seen interns all the way up to C suite execs wear it and no one cares. I do think it looks horrible with a suit and tie but for business casual it looks fine.
Definitely not tacky. I wear one (when I went to the office) everyday. You can see everyone from Analysts to MDs on my floor wearing them. I think they are stylish, affordable, and practical. I rather spend my money on something else than a $20,000 watch.
I love my Apple Watch. I have a stainless steel band on it which makes it look more traditional. It's very nice to have as an analyst IMO when you're away from your desk / computer at any point, especially on weekends. Senior guys won't notice that you're looking at your watch as much as they would if it was your phone to check texts. They also track your workouts and give you notifications to stand up every hour, which is very good for your body, especially working IB hours
Only thing I have against them is that u have to switch them every couple of years
I tried it for a little bit but it became too distracting, between the emails and texts, so I gave it to my wife. I couldn't stay focused on reviewing pitchbooks or legal docs. It was helpful when I was still traveling for work with the Uber, airline and hotel notifications though. If you want something digital, I recommend a Timex Ironman.
Shinola has great bands and would recommend as a great way to make the watch less casual

No not tacky at all. Actually pretty normal to rock one in this day and age. It's not my choice as I love watches and wouldn't get one given the beauty of a real timepiece but it'll definitely not be viewed as tacky. Just don't be the guy talking into it or constantly checking your texts on it during meetings or conversations with other folks - but that just becomes a matter of being rude rather than the watch itself
In some circles it has become acceptable to wear both a nice watch and an Apple Watch at the same time, different wrists. People understand that many people enjoy wearing a nice watch but still want to keep up with their steps and activity level.
I think Apple Watch can look pretty sleek with the right color bands and model. I never liked the idea of carrying another smart device on my wrist so I still prefer a traditional analog watch.
