Application for Mckinsey, Need Help with Resume!!
I'm looking to break into Consulting
Please give me feedback for this resume, so I can be in my best position to score an interview.
Also are there anyone here who had interviewed with Mckinsey?
And what's your resume like?
Take off summary, put education first. Is that your only work experience? Your GPA is pretty low for McKinsey...I honestly think you should shoot a bit lower.
I interviewed with all three MBB...
If you're going to have a summary, make sure to use the proper capitalization in McKinsey
I do have other work experience, but none as major as that and one is working at the school dining. I am also applying to other consulting firms like accenture, and LEK
Really appreciate your advice though. I will take off the summary part
apply to more places
and try to network harder...its difficult to get 1st rounds with your resume
you don't stand a chance. delay graduation untill you have 2 solid internships.
Does M recruit on your campus?
If not--
You'll be competing with kids from top ivies and business programs with 3.9+ GPAs with experience in banking, equity research, etc. and (because McK alumni went to these schools) these students will definitely have a one-up networking-wise as well.
As is, unfortunately, you have no chance. If this is your dream, delay graduation and dual-major, bring the GPA up to at least 3.75, and add one legit finance internship.
Honestly, McKinsey doesn't fuck with 3.35 GPAs. With your work experience, you don't have a shot.
Also, your SAT sucks. It probably shouldn't be on there.
Agree with everything so far.
You have the right idea with the bullets you have, but they need more clarification. Someone who has no idea about any of that stuff should be able to understand what you did and why it matters.
The 1+ years looks silly. Its not enough time to worth mentioning.
Definitely look lower tier if you want to do consulting. Find something that you are passionate about (Bioengineering related?) and try and find a firm that works on that. This will be tough to find. A lot of smaller, specialized firms are ex-industry people. That being said, you will excel more if you enjoy the work. This will come through in B-School apps. A good B-School may then get you in to McKinsey.
I have friends with 3.8 from a target who didn't get McKinsey interviews. (20 interviews out of how many thousand people)
Interviewed at all MBBs for summer, interned and have an offer from one.
I'm sorry, but your test scores and GPA are simply too low for McKinsey - shoot for another management consulting firm, you're wasting your time trying to get a job at MBB
