Applying to FT roles or Summer Internships?
Hi there,
Its known that the majority of offers go to summer interns which leaves little offers available to candidates applying to the full time programs. My question is that due to this abundance of opportunity and therefore a greater likelihood of getting a place, is it not more favourable and realistic to ignore the full time roles and apply to the summer internships ( telling the firm that you plan on doing a masters but ultimately not pursuing one) ???
No... just no.
Why not??
I have friends that have done that route so I am curious to why others oppose it
Most of the summer internships have a mandate in the application saying you must be graduating from undergrad between a certain time frame (so between Dec 2020 and May 2021 for the current cycle). If you're eligible for FT roles then you're definitely graduating before that time frame outlined in the summer internship apps and wouldn't be able to apply.
And if you lie and get away with it, well then you end up getting caught in a web that's bound to collapse. Just start networking your ass off and grind to try to get an FT role somewhere and keep working hard there if you find that you want to lateral. No need for all these games, dude.
rnoodles said it nicely. Just to much risk.
Can you provide more information on your friends / maybe you should network with your friends if they have had success with this. Were they at BB or Boutiques. Because I have heard people at boutiques doing this.
