Applying to Goldman Sachs Internship as a Freshman
Hey Guys,
Well a week and a half ago I went to a GS presentation at my school (non-target) for the operations department and talked with a few of the presenters. I told them I was interested in doing an internship at GS and they told me to give it a try and apply. Now I've been revising my resume and I went ahead just did most of the application, but now I'm wondering whether it's a good idea? I'd eventually hope to do an internship with them, which is why I'm wondering whether it's worth it to apply now as chances for a freshman are pretty slim. Will it go against me in future applications? If it makes a difference, I was thinking of applying to operations and either Sales and Trading or Wealth Management. Application is due tommorow so any advice/ constructive commentary is appreciated.
go ahead and apply. probably won't get an interview as a freshman, but it's not going to count against you either.
While it's probably not going to count against you, GS does actually track its HR system and asks about past applications (friend got asked).
one thing that WILL go against you is if you call GS Goldman Sach in your application or interview.
lolz
Lol, did not notice that. Went ahead and changed it. Hmm, Well I plan to apply again in my sophomore and junior years, meaning a total of 3 applications if I apply this year. Is that too much? If so I may want to limit it to sophomore and junior then?
It's more an issue of you applying to IBD one year and then S&T in another. I don't think they'll use it against you for applying to IBD three years in a row.
