Applying to multiple locations within the same firm
Just searching for opinions here. What are your thoughts on applying to multiple cities within the same division?
For example, is it chill to apply to Lazard SF and NY; MS NY and Menlo; etc.? Or is this frowned upon by the banks?
Others can correct me if I'm wrong but I think applying to 2 different locations of the same functional area (i.e. IB) should be okay.
Definitely ok
100% okay.
On a side note, chill use of the word chill.
are actual bankers replying to this? i've heard it's not allowed
Multiple applications for same company? (Originally Posted: 09/02/2016)
Hey everyone, I've been lurking among the forums all summer, but this is my first post. Coming from a non-target makes it hard to break into BBs. I've been networking my butt off, but still I'm pretty worried about internships next summer. I'm a junior this fall and wanted to know what everyone felt about applying for multiple SA positions within the same firm. An example would be to apply for a corporate treasury SA position at MS while also applying to the Fixed Income SA position at MS. Do you feel that this would weed me out since they will see that I'm not focused on one certain position. I'm currently very interested in trading, but would honestly like to gain any experience at a BB. Also if you feel that it is ok to apply to more than one position, how many would be over the top. I know that some of these banks have many different SA positions. I would really just like to have the best shot at landing one for next summer.
Thanks for the help!

Submitting more than one application to the same firm (Originally Posted: 02/07/2017)
Hi Fellow Monkeys,
I am looking for a new role and I have been attracted to a number of firms rather than the job (they are similar jobs). I wondered what would be your thoughts on an applicant applying for a number of roles at the same firm but slight variants on the roles.
I imagine it would be someone in HR who would see that I have applied for a few roles? Would it come across that I am just sending applications excessively or will they notice they are similar?
I am looking to work as an Assistant Fund Manager/credit analyst/loan portfolio manager
Thank you in advance.
I did it. And ended up getting to the final round for the first position but didn't make the cut. Within a week of being rejected they lined me up with an interview for the second position.
Same company different location (Originally Posted: 08/18/2013)
Is it unheard of to network with people at the same company but at different locations?
My concern is what if some from a New York office pushes your resume and so does someone else at a LA branch. How does HR process something like that?
Only apply with one person at a time unless you are responding to a job posting that instructs you to contact multiple people. Do not send your resume to more than two people at the same company.
Same Firm, Different Roles/Locations (Originally Posted: 05/25/2015)
Just wondering how best to present different role titles and/or different locations you have worked in at the same firm.
For example: if you were promoted in the same firm would you write Analyst (date) and above that Associate (date)? If you worked in NYC for 1 year and then moved team/role to SF but were in the same firm how would you present this?
I have the same question.. bump
