You typically don't have the traditional supply chain (most of the stuff that is used by tech companies is commoditized hardware from Asia), they have huge incumbency / network effects once they get into the consumer base and regulatory threat is almost always there (though no one really knows what will be the outcome). A lot of these business school frameworks are not applied literally in the corporate world, but I think both do have some merit in Tech, both for smaller companies and FAANG. SWOT is essentially a review of external and internal pros and cons behind a strategy or corporate move; applicable to everyone in principle, including Tech companies. The 5 forces also make sense, even in the context of FAANG: Threat of new entrants is not a huge deal as far as new companies go, but when companies like Apple or Amazon enter a new segment (e.g.
