i dont know, but things certainly sucked for full time recruiting. banks hired substantially less people than they did last year. i hope for your sake that this trend doesn't carry over for intern hiring.
but you should also consider that in "bad" years, there are also considerably fewer applicants to banks, so it sort of evens out. this was the case when i was searching for a job out of college, which was an even more awful year than the present.
well im guessing when all you hear about is how people can't offers or they get their offers taken away, potential applicants often get discouraged or frightened from all the b/s and as a result dont apply for banking.
I think that's true, as one of the BB firms just had an info session at my school for their summer analyst program and turnout was significantly less than last year. It was great because I got a ton of face time with their people.

yeah exactly. a lot of applicants are wowed by the mega bonuses in good years, but put off by any talks of impending lay offs.
