Are we seeing more people go to DB, CS?
I thought that more people would be going to places like DB and CS with more regulation coming in America but looks like the american banks are doing well still? If you are coming out of college now, are you more likely to chose DB/CS over an american bank?
i will choose any bank that will give me a job in IBD
Banks like BAML, JP, Citi and WF are growing and leveraging their relationships and balance sheets a lot so I would think they are doing better rather than foreign banks.
The impact of regulation would be better gauged on the S & T side of these firms. Derivatives regulation isn't going to make DB any more attractive than JPM from a dealmaking/M&A standpoint, but it will make their FX/rates swaps desks very, very appealing.
Despite the heavy regulation that will happen, Banks will still find a way to escape it, at least to a certain extent. To be honest, I'm not the type that is bothered about groups, etc... As long as I get a job in M&A, I'm happy.
Regulations will not affect IBD, only small parts of S&T and proptrading/risk taking within banks.
Surely it will indirectly affect comp. as margins get tighter.
