Trying to understand - is it better to have experience at Citadel L/S earlier on in career and then move to a long only shop like Artisan?
Any thoughts on which one is a better opp in TMT sector? Any thoughts on Artisan?

You can always go to Citadel from Artisan, but not necessarily the other way around. Spots at shops like Artisan don't come around too often. If you get one, grab it and don't let go.
Agreed, I have friends at both types of platforms and Artisan seems like a more enjoyable experience.
Depends how risk averse you are. If you're a young guy who wants to make a lot of money and are okay with volatility/stress, I'd go the MM route. If you're looking for something more stable but lower comp I'd go the LO route.
Knowing people and having worked in both camps, the grass always looks greener.
