As a current first year MBB analyst should I recruit this year or next year for private equity?

I a currently an incoming first year analyst in the MBB who is planning on entering Private Equity. I am wondering what are the pros and cons of recruiting for private equity during my 1st year versus my 2nd year. Also, what percentage of consultants recruit in their first year, as compared to their second year.
