Asia IB/PE Headhunters

Can anyone provide a list of headhunters for IB/PE opportunities in Asia? Currently working as a 2nd year IB in NYC but looking to transfer to financial hubs in Asia such as HK, Singapore, Japan, etc. This would be much appreciated.

Bump.

Also in addition, how does the general PE recruiting process go down in Asia? I know PE cycle for the MFs/big name MM PEs in US is finishing up, but what about HK? Anyone in the know care to share? Is it done more based on networking?

Most hiring opp will be on a need-basis so will be off cycle. Only a few megafunds like TPG, Bain Cap will have a structured recruiting process. Say if they are hiring for Summer 2013, then most likely they will start the process around March in the same year.

Certain funds will screen resume and conduct interviews throughout the year, but that does not mean they are really looking to actively hire. It is more like checking out candidates and see if there is anyone that they really like. If so, they may push to get a headcount. If no, they will be just fine.

Most regional and local funds do not require you to go back for MBA. As for megafunds, it is more like half and half. Some megafunds do not require MBA (eg: KKR, Warburg, Carlyle) while others do (TPG, Bain Cap, Apax). There are a few exceptional individual cases as well (eg: one fund asked all the associates to go back to NBA but makes exception for one or two stellar candidates).

Most recruiters in HK do not have exclusivity so mostly you will be able to hear one hiring opp from multiple HHs.

Most China focused PE positions have been moved back to China these days, especially at the junior level.

Hope this helps a bit.
