Ask your interviewer where you screwed up?
Anyway, I went through a few phone 1st rds, I got rejected from 1 already,
Would it be okay for me to email the person and ask him where I screwed up? I am ok with the rejection but I just want know how I can improve for the future.
Thanks
I have never received a response to an e-mail like that, and I have never responded to one.
I would advise against.
Generally, the time to ask for after-interview comments/suggestions is right when you get the rejection call or email. If you built up a good rapport with the people you interviewed with, you could ask one person for post-interview feedback after the fact. But given that you've only been through a 1st round interview - chances are, you haven't had much time to build rapport so I wouldn't go and email them now. Just let it go.
If you get rejected again, ask for feedback during the reject call.
If you get the interviewer or HR on the phone, it's always a good question to ask. Phrase it in such a way that you put it in a positive light- "Is there anything I can do better in an interview next time?" This isn't the time to be asking why you didn't get the offer- just how you can interview better.
On the phone, this often gets a positive response. An email just looks awkward.
Edit: Agree with Kanon.
lets face it, you have nothing to lose, no bridges to burn. if you're curious ask.
