Asked for an info interview, he's asking for my resume?
I'm a sophomore majoring in economics at a non-target state university. Contacted an associate at a boutique investment bank in my area asking for an informational interview. He replied back asking for my resume... Is this a good sign?
I'm worried that he thinks this is just a "cold call for an internship" type of thing. While a summer internship is my final goal, I really want to get to know the associate, the day-to-day workings of the firm, and what I can do to get started on that track (seeing as I don't have any practical experience in IB).
Any info appreciated.
Everyone asks for a resume. Just send it to him, it's no big deal. It gives them a little background on you.
Don't be worried at all, its actually a pretty good sign since he's interested... he probably just wants a summary of your background prior to your meeting so he has some idea about the person he will be speaking with.
Just standard procedure, but could have some upside potentially.

Hmm, I sent him the resume. He replied back telling me that he sent my resume to the recruiting coordinator! Now I'm not sure if I should tell him that all I wanted was to have a discussion with him about the nature of his work and the tools investment bankers use. Or should I just let it slide and take my chances?
