Yes. It’s very common. Happens all the time. Actually I think it’s better to start in AM and transition to acquisitions. In AM you learn how to run the property and it makes it much easier to buy a good deal when you know how to manage it.
Yes it’s common. Assuming you’re early in your career, the ideal AM role will allow you to 1) learn and get good at modeling (for valuations, dispos) and 2) interact with deal people (brokers and acquisitions people) to grow your network
