At crossroad, help me decide
I know this is not the right forum, but this is the one with the most traffic.
I was a physics major who graduated almost 2 years ago and have been working in a pre-MBA somewhat quanty front office role at a big investment manager (think Wellington/fidelity/capital group/t rowe/templeton), mainly doing quant research and portfolio modeling. My role expires in May and I was given 2 options.
-
Transition into a typical pre-MBA associate analyst in a traditional buyside ER role doing much more qualitative/fundamental analysis (a lot of ex-BB IBD analysts exit into these roles)
-
Continue as an associate quantitative analyst working in quantitative strategy in equities
My goal is to get into H/S/W for MBA in another 2 years, and then get on an associate portfolio manager track. I really dont care about quant or not quant. I can do both, I like both. I just would hate to become a career research analyst.
Which path should I choose to have a better chance at my end game (being a PM)?
p.s I have passed CFA 2.
if your going to get a mba in two years your not a career anything.. you just need a job for next two years... i would stay where your at and cont to work hard. get your butt into school.. i would also add nyu, columbia and penn to your list as well as chicago as they are finance heavy
