Awkward Informational Interview
Brothers and Sisters, help a fellow brother out. I have been keeping in touch with a MD whose firm / team I am looking to join. This has been going on for last 7/8 months and I had cold-emailed the MD. Recently reached out to the MD again and he put me in touch with a relatively senior hire (junior to the MD) that he brought to his team. Md asked me to start having a dialogue with this quasi-senior guy and see where it leads. NOW, here's the dilemma.
This guy, whom the MD put me in touch with, interviewed me five years ago at a different BB when I had been looking for a new job after being let go by my BB. I don't know if he would remember it and there's a lot since then that I have done. I also have a very different pic on Linkedin lol. Anyway, I hadn't proceeded into further rounds with the BB that I had been interviewing with but I remember being told by the recruiter this quasi-senior guy had liked me. Also, this new guy just joined the PE firm (which I am keen on) 2 months ago. I don't think I should bring up our past encounter because he would suddenly remember that this guy got fired lol..am I playing this right? would love to get my views validated. thanks
