Back Office experience, should I even mention this experience in my curriculum / linkedin?.
Hello,
I really need some advice.
I am studying a master degree in Finance (semi-target European University), I have experience in business development for a big insurance company. I also worked as an intern in political journalism for the BBC and as a financial advisor for a middle size life insurance company before starting my masters.
I would like work for investment banking, equity research or something related to financial markets and investments. I also find investment strategy interesting. Generally speaking I like a job where i have to think. When I worked as a business developer I had fun, I used to compare investment funds, pension funds and I helped in the creation of investment and saving products such as unit linked or reverse mortgages. However, covid happened so I decided to go back to university .
So basically I have some job experience (not more than 2 years to be fair) , and I will finish my master degree at the end of the year. I am currently working on Sundays with my mum, analyzing investment funds and stocks, but this job is not professional at all. Recently I got a student job that I hate, is a back office job for a small bank where I perform administrative tasks for all the transactions registered in the trading room such as shares, bonds and funds. I need the money but I plan to keep this back office job til I am done with my masters. In other words, I will be working there for around 7 months.
Is it even worth mentioning that I have this back office experience in my curriculum and linkedin?. To be honest I feel I am learning nothing and I am afraid It can close some doors when I will be searching after uni. Maybe could be useful to mention it if I was finishing my bachelor degree and I would not have in experience but in my case, i'm not sure if is worth it. What do you think?
