No, a gap is when you have an actual empty period of time on your CV. Say you graduated in September 2020 and started work on July 2021, you would have a gap between september and july that will trigger a demand for proof that you were not working, which is usually just a request for a screenshot of your bank statements showing that you didn't earn anything above 500£ during the gap

 

I omitted an unpaid internship and nothing got flagged during my background check. Now since it was unpaid I'm not sure if that changes everything, but regardless I signed a contract and everything. I think you should be fine

You don’t have to put everything you do on your CV or application. If you don’t think it’s relevant or doesn’t speak to what you want it to, you omit it. That’s the point of tailoring your resume. As for the background check, it doesn’t ducking matter.
