Background Check Top Hedge Fund
Hello everyone,
I am a noob and needed some information about credit checks in top hedge funds or IBs (DE Shaw, Two Sig, Citadel, Element, GS etc). I discovered today that I had a delinquent account (dental bill for ~300) from way back in the day which I wasn't aware of (probably lost in mail as I was moving etc). I immediately paid it. I was curious if anyone has been in a similar situation and what kind of effect this has on my offer.
Cheers.
hahahahahaha, dude no. I had 4 unpaid moving violations and a missed hearing and it had no effect on my offer.
Just don't go bankrupt or have liens (think IRS) against you and you're fine. You can definitely chill in your situation :)
Pretty much this
nice signature and username btw, I saw them live ~2007, while the lead singer's vocals weren't as good anymore, neil peart still had it in him.
Thank you all for your inputs, I am not a citizen and I panicked when I saw the collection agency and the drop in my score on my credit report. As you can imagine, I was concerned about the effect it would have on my offer from the firm when they do the background check.
Has anyone been in this situation, i.e. having a paid collection account on their credit report and been through a background check at a top bank or hedge fund?
I am pretty worried given all this stuff is new to me, not to mention my credit score taking a dive.
You're fine. Breathe.
that does help actually, its amazing what a small phrase can do to the morale of the person on the other side
If it helps anyone, I looked at all my credit reports and firms do check credit reports. One of my report had the name of the firm along with the background check agency clearly listed on account inquiries.
FWIW, it's almost standard procedure for any prestiged firm to conduct a background/credit check. Unless you have tax liens, bankruptcy judgments or financial industry complaints/litigations on your mark, it should be smooth sailing thru the door of your next employer.
Thank you so much, does any one know what "bonding" is and how collections can affect it. I remember being asked if "I was ever denied bonding" in a previous job application.
