Background check...am I screwed?

I go to a non target in the uk...going into my 3rd year (but doing a masters) so i can apply to summer apps...

ive got 2 bb interviews coming up (1st round, for IBD) and already have a UBS offer..

I never thought i'd get this and i guess its because i really brushed up on my technicals....

So, during my 2nd year I had a CF internship at a big 4 accountancy firm, I worked on 1 pitch; but on my cv i say that I worked on 'pitches' because typically ' a pitch' sounds so awful! Will they check this when they do a background check/ if they ask for a reference will they enquire about this?

Also, i had to take a year out to do 2 resits, will my uni give them all copies (i.e. my old + my updated results? would the BB care?)

Nervous! But if i say 'resits' on CV i'd get dinged quick time.... im hoping they'll overlook this after making a good impression..

So those are my 2 worries, my resits (i hope my uni would give my resits and not my original) and my 'pitches'in stead of a pitch

Not sure what a resit is, but the concept of a background check dinging you because you wrote "pitches" instead of "pitch" on your resume is pretty much the most ridiculous fear I've ever heard of regarding a background check (and I've been reading this forum for years). Background checks are used to determine if you were actually employed at the places you said you were, attended the schools you said you attended, and aren't a convicted axe murderer. The firm carrying out your background check won't know nor care what a "pitch" is.

This is not a troll at all. A resit is a special thing in the UK when you fail an end of year exam and then you have to come back later and try and pass. Needless to say it doesnt look good.

Dont worry bud, you will BE FINE.

Yeah recruiting has begun for SA's in the UK already....greenhill have hired 2 out of their 6 interns already...

Well I didn't expect to get many interviews, I've worked really hard (my year out after failing two exams was my motivation) and I'm in a fortunate position at the moment

I just hope when they ask for 2nd year results from my university, my university include my resitted results, because otherwise it'd look like I lied completely about my grades... I guess they'd discuss the problem with me in which case I can show my resit marks (I have my results on my university portal)

Ill ask my tutor if he knows about resit reporting....thanks for your input

if the transcript system is anything like it is the US, the official transcript will show everything, including suspensions (which I assume is the equivalent to your "resits"). But either way, it shouldn't be a big deal. Even if it is, what are you gonna do about it. Why worry and sweat over it when what's done is done. Just do your thing, be patient and wait till you hear back. You're only going to stress yourself out. Well, unless you're into that sort of S&M thing

How do these people get into such a cut-throat industry?

I had an F and 2 Ds on my transcript by the time I graduated from college, and it turned out fine. Do banks even do real background checks? Mine didnt. But they did do a criminal history check.

In hindsight, I probably could have forged my entire resume and gotten away with it
