Backround check for finance job...DUI conviction
I am currently a jr at a top 25 univ. studying finance with a respected GPA. I have recently been convicted of a DUI. I am in the state of California? I am not looking at getting a job for a BB on Wall Street. But work as a financial analyst/financial advisor/corp. finance for a large bank or Broker in LA/SF. Will this affect my future employment? And if so how greatly will it affect it? Does anyone who works at one of the large firms or banks here know of any policies for employees who have been convicted of a DUI. I cannot get it expunged and it will be on my driving record for the next 7 years.

At the HF I worked at the trader there was arrested for public intoxication and disturbance of peace (something like that) when he was in college. He spent a bunch of money on a lawyer and was acquitted.
He still had to explain it away when he was interviewing for the position.
DUI is actually a pretty serious offense.
I dont ge twhy all these idiots drink and drive..
besides the obvious of risking your life and more importantly that of others around you, how hard is it just to get a taxi instead.
Especially these celebrities who could afford their own drivers, they are even mroe dimwitted.

Its in my dmv record which will be on my record for 7-10 years. From what i have heard. Court records are not public in CA, and when people discover criminal charges on a backround check, they are felonys. once again it was a stupid mistake, and i have learned a big lesson. but i hope that it dosent greatly affect my employment in financial services. George Bush has been convicted of 2 DUI's and he become the president.
