Dress code confusion

The email for coffee chats said "business casual", but I saw students who showed up in full-on suits with ties. Am I misinterpreting the idea of business casual? Does "business casual" mean not a full suit with tie? Do women have to wear suits in business casual?

Thank you. I just felt totally out of place when I saw these students wearing complete suits and I did not have a blazer, just a blouse and suit pants. Took me an hour last night to research business casual...

It ain't what you know, it's who you know

I actually have a wedding coming up and the dress is "business casual". I also had to look it up to see exactly what business casual was. It feels weird to go to a wedding and not wear a suit, etc but ya don't want to be "that guy" that wore a suit to a business casual event!!!

If it says business casual you should wear business casual. Wear a blazer over an oxford with slacks... You could also wear a casual looking suit without a tie...

xoxo
Shut up already. Your mindless, reflexive responses to any critical thought on this are tedious. You're also probably a woman, given the name and "xoxo" signoff, so maybe the lack of judgment is to be expected.
So, before you even get an offer, you are already ignoring your potential future employer's requests? Just want to make sure I understand where you're coming from.

Navy blazer, chinos, sperrys, bright colored socks, no undershirt, polo oxford (note: must be polo). Shotgun a couple beers before the interview and pack a fatty during the interview to set you apart.

Sperrys with socks? GDI.
