Bain and BCG: Atlanta vs Dallas Offices
I have read from various sources on WSO that Bain/BCG have a greater emphasis on office/location than McKinsey, which has a global staffing model. For Bain and BCG, which office would have the best exit opps/prestige/etc, Dallas or Atlanta?
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated, thank you.
I think your assumption is mostly true about McKinsey, but NY, Chicago, and SF are generally understood as a bit above the rest in terms of opportunity and prestige.
To answer your question though, they are quite similar, but Dallas will have way more of a portion of its work concentrated in just one industry (oil and gas) so I'd be careful you also consider the industries present in each (Atlanta seems a bit more diverse with Coca Cola, Delta, UPS, Home Depot, etc).
At the end of the day, you should pick the city where you want to live. That matters a lot too!
Dallas is actually fairly diverse and not just focused on O&G (Houston OTOH, is much more concentrated in O&G). Two major airlines HQ (AA and SW), some Healthcare (McKesson), consumer (FritoLay), Telco (AT&T) and a bunch of other assorted large companies in various spaces.
Also BCG Dallas and Atlanta I believe are part of the same office system, so teams are cross-staffed.
Seem similar though in terms of overall "prestige" if that even exists--just go for wherever you want to live as previous post said.
