Bain NY vs Bain SF
Hey guys! I'm trying to best understand the main differences between Bain NY vs SF; work culture, hours, industry mix, exit opportunities, etc.
I'll be in an intern program where I'll have to state my preferences and can't begin to figure out how I'll go about choosing. I love everything about NYC and it looks like NYC may even be cheaper to live in than SF recently. I also come from IB background and am interested in exiting to PE and know Bain NY has a strong financial services deal flow. However, I've heard from a Bain SF employee that the work culture in the SF office is phenomenal; great hours (relatively), amazingly supportive co-workers, great deal flow. Additionally, I love the idea of working mainly in Tech as the industry interests me and I am more familiar with it than other industries (healthcare/industrials/etc). I'm not as sold on the city itself; I've heard SF is struggling right now and I prefer NYC better anyways.
I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on which office they would choose, whether they'd prioritize industry or location, as well as general opinions on the cities themselves.

bain does a shit ton of PE work regardless of where you're at, so i wouldnt include that in your evaluation - also, note that financial services/institutions and PE are two separate practices in consulting
i think you should go with nyc - both are large enough that "office culture" is somewhat meaningless. your experience will vary more between cases than between offices (eg when you're doing PE work you will probably not have good WLB no matter which office). given this and your preference for nyc the city, i think nyc makes more sense
