Balancing Asset Management, Portfolio Management, and Aquisitions
I work for a pretty lean REPE firm (5 total employees including Principals) with about $300M AUM. Some of this is in deals in which we are our own sponsor, some in more "hands-on" type JV partnerships, and about 1/3 in relatively passive JV deals.
As you can imagine, in a firm this size, most everyone is involved in acquisitions and management of all of these deals. At the current moment, I'm finding it hard to have the bandwidth to really prospect for new deals and feel like the majority of my time is just being spent on the management side of things.
For you folks out there in similar sized shops, in similar type roles, how do you balance these responsibilities? Are members of your team solely dedicated to one side or the other, or does everyone juggle most of the tasks and simply accept the limited bandwidth you have towards each?
