Ballistic MISSILE almost destroys Hawaii?

Check this out..

Today, the state of Hawaii was sent into panic when a "state employee" hit the wrong button during a routine test of the emergency alert system. Similar to an amber alert, residents received a warning of impending doom, telling people to "SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER". A bit careless, no? This was definitely the last thing residents in Hawaii needed, with the current state of global politics and scars from the past..

On Saturday morning, just after 8 a.m. local time, a Hawaii state employee hit the wrong button on a computer during a shift change and accidentally sent an alert to many of the state’s cellphones that a ballistic missile was about to strike. For nearly 40 minutes, scores of Hawaii residents thought their world was about to end.

“BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII,” the alert said, in all-caps, to the island chain of about 1.4 million people. “SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”

Officials canceled the alert six minutes later to stop it from being sent to people who hadn’t already received it. But the news continued to proliferate as frightened residents called friends and family members. Thirty-eight minutes passed before state officials sent a new message that said the first alert had been a false alarm.

What do you guys think of this mess? Personally, I think it's ridiculous that this is being called a simple mistake by hitting the wrong button. Is there no "are you sure you would like to send 1.4 million island residents into an apocalyptic state of panic?" button? Also, to add insult to injury, numerous sirens went off across the island as well, I really can't imagine what would be going through my mind. How do you think this should be handled? I'd love to know your thoughts as well as perspective if any of you happened to receive the alert.

Hawaii Missile-Attack False Alarm Triggered by Clicking Wrong Button, Official Says

Accidents can be accidents, but in this situation.. Oof. This should also be taken into consideration - Why was this warning system produced in a way that could be simply incited by one individual? Blows my mind.. At least we are seeing exactly how Hawaiians would react if it was legit.

Apparently, the HW-EMA (Hawaii Emergency Management Agency) has already implemented a 2-person verification system as well as a cancellation command that can be triggered within seconds. Still.. wow

It wasn't a false alarm. My boss is a fucking moron and started playing with his "big nuclear button" until he pressed it. We knew this would eventually happen, so we included him in the EMA list of threats.

It wasn't even a button. it was a drop down selection window with two options that basically read "test" and "not a test".
