Bank Examiner doesn't want to get stuck in compliance forever
I recently attained my bachelors degree in finance and took a job as a bank examiner with a big agency (Fed/OCC/FDIC). I'm studying for the level 1 CFA exam in June as I think that will make my exit into the private sector much easier when that time comes. Now that I'm here and I know how the industry works a little more, I'm really scared about getting stuck in an audit/compliance type role for the rest of my life. I love finance and I think anything outside of commercial banking in the private sector would be desirable in the next few years.
Has anyone made this transition or can anyone offer any advice as to how I can escape the auditor hole I dug myself in? Obviously CFA will help, but is there anything else I can do?
