Bank with Best Summer Internship Experience (Socially)
I couldn't find any good threads about this. By socially, I am asking which firm(s) give their interns a great experience outside of the work? (sporting events, dinners, anything along those lines)
Any insight from those already working in IB or those with IB internship experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
Not sure about banks but I'd think an internship with a modeling agency would be fun, just not a top tier one like Victoria's Secret cause you'd get blue balled so hard.
Not bad not bad *takes notes
I've heard Guggenheim rents out a boat for interns on one of the nights of the SA program
Centerview rents out an island
Evercore rents out a bigger island
I hear it’s actually Atlantis.
PJT buys an island
So does DB
Whoever hit me with MS is fucking stupid. interned for DB last summer and i distinctly recall being on a boat
DB has a booze cruise but i hear its beat
Nomura does as well
Bofa in Charlotte. Weekly all intern not just IB outings to bowling alleys, stadiums, local attractions, tours, etc.
Heard BAML LF in Charlotte is great group
I've heard this as well, and all of the guys I've talked to from there were super chill.
Moelis NY has a beach day near the Hamptons.
Do they make the SAs "pls fix" at the beach?
Moelis LA takes their interns to Vegas and I heard there's a poker night at Ken's place (not sure how true though). Their summer experience seems like a real blast.
So does this happen before or after the ass fucking from the staffer...or is it sandwiched in between??
Can confirm both of these. Place is electric
Yep can confirm as well. Feel bad for this year's interns who're working virtually and missing the experience haha
My roommate was at PWP SA--went to luxury box at Yankee stadium, firm party at that boathouse in Central Park, firm rented out PhD Midtown's rooftop at the beginning of the program, intern cooking competition, etc.
We made our interns compete to see who could eat a dozen doughnuts fastest. Sounds better than the shit listed here.
The thought of DB making its interns do a dunkin donut eating contest while other banks take their kids to private islands etc made me choke on my drink.
lmao DB wishes. They can’t afford the doughnuts.
Last summer Jefferies CEO held an intern party at his penthouse in manhattan. It was ridiculous. Nicest home I have ever been to. More like a cocktail event tho
It’s @handlerrich.
Building is insane. 1 York
EB/MM > BB for this, just a headcount/cost thing
This is where being a Summer Associate was sick: some stuff was for all summers, but Associates got additional events and always first dibs on one-offs with partners. Among me and the boys from school: multiple games in crazy suites, firm parties on rooftops and rooftop bars, firm party at huge estate in CT, Hamptons trips, class LV trip with tables sponsored (not by the bank, you can prob figure out the company who sponsored), plus a lot of dinners and clubs in smaller groups. Kid in my banking class booked a blade walking out of his offer interview to celebrate.
Party doesn't stop either - at least for the 2nd year MBA -you take your 50-70k signing bonus and literally party for a year on every continent. It is not real life - grades don't matter and everyone is down to travel and party, and has the money to do it too.
damn I miss MBA
where did you do your MBA?
MBA business schools">M7
What bank was this? Sounds amazing! My wild guess is PJT haha
Is this normal for B school?
Depends on who you hang out with and your situation, but yea fairly normal.
Honestly, I don't plan on leaving IB and got into it our of undergrad already, but multiple people have encourage me to get an MBA because its so much fun and they said that its literally worth the cost.
HL does boat outing, bowling, a couple rented cocktail hours, and has an end of internship penthouse party at RX MD's place in Tribeca. All are for M&A and RX.
Canada or US?
Well given what’s going on right now, I’m afraid the only perk you’ll be looking forward to is zoom happy hour on Friday
Where is the time for these events when you all are working 80-90 hours a week?
Last I checked there were 168 hours in a week
Yes but isn't it physically draining working those hours to have fun later? Also, we aren't including things such as commute/food/gym etc.
