Bankers, how do you feel about an incoming SA referring sophomores to you?

Analysts and associates, how do you feel about an incoming SA referring sophomores to you who are interested in joining your bank? Underclassmen keep asking me for contacts at the bank I’m interning at this summer but I don’t know if I should be referring people to bankers when I haven’t even started my internship.

I would probably hold off till you actually work there a summer and get a return offer secured

Take this with a grain of salt since I'm an incoming SA but I recently had a conversation with an MD that coordinates on-campus recruiting for my school.

He asked me to recommend sophomores with whom I had spoken and think would be a good fit. He mentioned that since we (incoming SAs) are closest to the recruiting class (sophomores) and had most recently gone through the process, our opinions are valued, especially by the school's alum who help with the on-campus recruiting process.

Would be curious to hear from others...

I have referred people as an incoming SA to alumni at the firm I already had good relationships with (older friends etc.), but we I definitely didn't have any say in the decision-making process. Didn't as an incoming FT for that matter either.
