Banking forum for those not working in the U, S and Aiiiii ???

Does anyone know of a forum similar to WSO/C which has more focus on the Square Mile/Canary Wharf (London) as opposed to Wall Street et. al (NYC)?

There are lots of really helpful people on WSO, but many of the posters don't have info. specific to i-banking in London, the capital of the free world... :P

http://www.IBtalk.com and http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/f94.html

TheStudentRoom has a mostly 1st-2nd yr university student crowd and is fairly busy, IBtalk has got a bit quiet recently. I'm in London and much prefer WallStreetOasis to either of the above - despite US-centric nature it's busier, people are more knowledgeable, and it's better to get a general view of what market thoughts are like.

ibtalk is ok, but I agree that it's mostly students (although in fairness, I'm final year at uni myself) and seems nowhere near as comprehensive as WSO, I know the guys who run ibtalk.com are students so I'm pretty sceptical as to how useful it is...

Looks like I'll be sticking with WSO

hey Joefish...Great Choice.

all joking aside, we actually do have a decent # of members from London.

The site will only get better as we get anywhere from 30-50 new users a day from around the world. I think once we reach a certain scale ~30-40,000 registered members you won't have any trouble finding hundreds of active members from the UK. hopefully we get to 20k by end of 2008 and there by mid-late 2009.

Thanks for your patience...if you want to speed up the UK member growth I would be really appreciative if you could help spread the word.

Thanks, Patrick

Yea that is the general feeling I got out of IBtalk, students bsing each other. There are a lot of London people on this forum (I'd say 25%?) It's the way it was renamed to wall street oasis that kind of sucks, makes you feel like it's not really a forum for you. If you are able to get past the name ask away your questions about London, you'll get plenty of responses. Although with 66 banana points I am sure you've already experienced it yourself.

OK, I haven't thought this through at all but here's a suggestion...

There seem to be several low traffic forums such as "Entrepreneurial Ecstasy", "The Other Road", and "Monkey Meetings". Would it not perhaps be more useful to get rid of these and instead have some city or regional forums? One for questions and discussion about London/Europe?

Forgive me if others have suggested this before!

In theory, i think this is a great idea, but in reality it would then be very difficult to organize the threads by Industry which I think is a more useful way for the information and discussions to be split....unless we had a WSO for the US and UK. but we aren't quite at the scale where splitting by region is smart or feasible. I think the activity in each individual region would be too low.

This might be an option down the road, however.
