Hey everyone
I'm an incoming freshman at a non target in Toronto and my goal is to break into IB. I know that my school has very little presence on bay street so I was wondering, would target school analysts ever respond to non target students and does anyone have any insights on which banks are most open to non targets?

You would have to work harder but anything is possible, especially as you are just a freshman. Make sure to take the steps necessary to get good grade + network + be ready for next year's recruitment process. Depending on your school you would probably have a better chance at the Canadian Banks (especially if they do OCR) than the US BB/EB as they are way more selective. However, certain Canadian 'non-targets' with Coop programs (Laurier, Waterloo) place kids at top spots on Bay Street pretty consistently. Another option would be to transfer to a program like Ivey for your junior and senior year, then you'll definitely get looks from Toronto and even New York
