BB analyst looking to go back to China, advice?

Hey everyone, first time poster here looking for advice, thanks in advance! Currently a Chinese international in a BB IB coverage group in NY. For the past year I have been increasingly thinking of going back to China and exiting finance. Ultimately want to stay in China and work in corporate, big corp. initially but cool start-up later on, and think that IB won't teach me anything meaningful past 2 year mark. Was wondering if anyone had the experience doing so or doing something similar? Looking at MNC strategy departments but really open to any suggestions. Mainly looking to see if anyone had any advice on the below questions

  • When should I leave, 2 year analyst mark or when I'm an associate, and what position should I be gunning for? Know friends who are 1 year out of college who couldn't get anything here, and they're already Manager in new China tech co.
  • What is pay like?
  • Any regrets leaving?

Thanks again, and hope all MDs lay off of the logo adjusting comments for this weekend

I think your best bet would be to shoot for roles in HK/Singapore. You would find more roles/opportunities at MNCs there and also them being more open to ex BB analysts as both of those cities have BB alumni across Asian corporates. Can't comment on when to leave but imo leaving after 2 year mark would make sense if you are trying to shoot for an associate level Corp Strategy role. Hottest Asian startups are coming out of SE Asia so working in SG/HK would be a great choice to move into VC or start-up scene. Just my .02 cents. Hope this helps!
