BB and Megafund equivalents in the CRE world

Obviously there won't be a consensus, but is there some sort of generally accepted list of the leaders in various segments of the CRE World. A list like this would help monkeys who are looking to pursue a career in Real Estate. (Note - obviously there are regional components to factor in this list).

If this has already been posted in this forum, please link as I'm sure it would be useful to some of our newer lurkers.

I'm almost certain you can find lists for all those categories outlining deal and transaction history to identify who makes up the lions share of the market. For REPE, see the PERE 50 list. A lot of the major players are just real estate arms of companies you're asking to compare to, like Fortress, Brookfield, Oaktree, the list goes on. It's hard to compare to BB's because the BB's actually used to be some of the biggest competitors as well pre recession, but that's just another example of how cyclical real estate is and whoever is dominating the market currently could be insignificant in the next cycle.

But if you want to look at one company that's ahead of the rest, Blackstone is in a league of their own right now.
