BB ER --> HF or H/S/W MBA--> PE

I was wondering how possible it is to go from ER at a top BB shop JPM/MS/BAML to a top MBA and then get into PE post MBA. Would you be more likely to get into PE if you go to a HF pre-MBA?

thanks for the help!

dunno why people dont understand this. it's extremely tough to get a PE job post mba if you dont have any PE experience pre-MBA. hell, it's tough for people even if they DO have pre-mba PE experience.

+1 The people who generally break in without pre-MBA experience have transaction experience of some sort. They either were bankers in M&A or something where they had transaction experience or if they came from consulting (less likely) they had experience conducting due diligence assignments. I think many of the people who interviewed you for PE post-MBA would be confused about why you did HF instead of trying to get some PE experience.
