BB Office Visit - What to Expect/Wear?
I'm currently a rising junior at a target university. I have an office visit at a BB branch in SF/Menlo Park coming up. It was help set up by a college alum in NY, and the associate at this branch told me that the visit would last a few hours.
I was just curious as what to expect at this visit - previous posts on WSO have lead me to believe it could just be informational interviews, getting grilled by technicals, or really anything else. One comment said "expect nothing and be prepared for everything" which was the route I was going to take. I'm a bit worried as I'm not 100% on my technicals and haven't done any mock interviews as formal recruiting is still a few months away. I'm definitely going to have questions I want to ask/discuss, but I wanted to know what else I could do to prepare.
As for attire, this is another area I'm struggling with. If it was a NY office I'd wear suit/tie, but seeing as it is a Bay Area branch (and from the limited face time I've had with people in the IB/PE industry from here, the dress is pretty business casual), I didn't know if a suit/tie was overkill if everyone was wearing dress shirts and khakis. I was planning on wearing a suit/no tie to be safe, but that could still be overdressed (although I'm aware it is better than being underdressed).
Any other general advice/tips is greatly appreciated, and please let me know if there is any more info I can provide.
I second expect nothing, but be prepared for everything. Dress in a business casual suit, nothing fancy. Navy blue suit, white shirt, blue tie, matching dark brown shoes and belt. You never know what your walking into. I have worn this exact attire for two FT and an internship and have been fine every time.
Unless they specifically tell you to wear casual, dress to impress. Good luck.
