BB PWM Internship or LSE Study Abroad?
I'm trying to decide between an offer as a PWM intern at UBS or to spend a summer abroad trip at LSE (studying economics). I want to get into IB, and I know that showing interest is helpful, but which would be "better"? This is for freshman year, by the way.
.
If you haven't interned anywhere yet, take the PWM gig. Study Abroad is definitely a unique experience, but as a current Sophomore, I struggled finding an internship because a lot of employers were looking for students with previous corporate experience. Having UBS on your resume as a freshman will definitely serve you better in the long run, rather than a Summer study abroad program.
Pains me to say this because I think study abroad programs are an amazing life experience, but the internship will really take you farther in terms of IB recruiting.
This is just me talking, but I think studying abroad is much more interesting. It'll stand out and help you think differently. Possible to do an internship out there?
indeed. Studying abroad not only enhance your cultural awareness but also increase your personality. I did my erasmus in Paris and this 6 months have been the best time of my life.
I would choose UBS. Everyone and their mother who wants to do IB studies abroad at LSE, but not as many people have a well-known firm as their first internship experience. Good luck!
