BB Waitlist
hey guys,
Recently i interviewed for a S&T SA position at a BB, first round was on tuesday and got invited to final round on wednesday. i thought i did well but next monday i found out that i didn't get the position. i gave a call to the person who interviewed me for a feedback and was told that i was the third guy on the list and they handed out two offers.
my question: i know for a fact that the two people who got the offers probably won't take it, should I e-mail the HR to express my interest to wait or am i forever done once the HR told me that i didnt get the position?
i recently had an interview with someone at a bank and didnt make it, and after i talked to the guy he basically said the same thing...we really liked you but there were a couple people ahead of me. oddly enough i knew at the time that one of the kids who got through just got an offer from JPM IBD and was going to decline his invitation to the superday. i told him this, and asked if there was any way i could take the spot that would open up, and he told me to forward him another copy of my resume, and he would see what he could do about it...i have yet to hear back (i just sent him my resume last night), but i would say its at least worth a shot.
Can't hurt to email them and let them know. Worst case scenario is that they just say no, but it still demonstrates your interest.
emailed the hr and was told that they don't have a waitlist
Waitlisted at two BB's (Originally Posted: 02/24/2011)
I'm from a non-target and was waitlisted for two SA positions at BB firms. Reached out to HR to emphasize my interest and am wondering if it's a good idea to send an email to the interviewers as well. I feel at this point it may be better to just wait it out. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Have you sent thank you notes to your interviewers? More specifically, handwritten thank you notes. If not, do it immediately.
If you've already done this, I'd wait it out a week or two at least before following up.
I think it is always good to reach out to show commitment and interest. The thing is control the timing and don't be pushy. It also depends on how close you are with your contacts or interviewers.
I am on hold with GS. Which BBs are you waiting to hear back from?
im on hold at GS too...which division?
I sent thank you notes in the form of emails, not handwritten ones. I'm thinking I could wait a week or two and send out handwritten ones expressing my interest? I just spoke with HR about it, so I wouldn't want to be too pushy.
Do this, but only with a feather pen on target letterhead.
Thanks guys. I'm starting to think it'll just be best to wait a few weeks.
Good luck to both of us. :)
Make it the 3 of us! (but I'm for s&t)
I'm for IBD. That is GL to 4 of us!!! lol.
haha well good luck!!! im for s&t
Waitlisted at BB, what now? (Originally Posted: 10/13/2016)
Found out a few days from some alums after my superday that I was still in the running, but they wanted to see how I stack up against the next few rounds. Any advice on how to best stay in their radar/move off the waitlist going forward?
Difficult one, maybe networking with contacts you have or following up with the person that you connected the best with during the superday.
Or get an exploding offer from somewhere else and leverage that.
Realistically, the only way to get off of a waitlist is for the candidate ahead of you to decline the offer.
I actually just got an exploding offer from a vc firm, how could I use this to leverage an offer?
You can't. Shows your exploring other things than banking and therefore are not committed to Banking. If that makes sense
What now? - Waitlisted at a BB for over a week (Originally Posted: 02/07/2011)
So i've been waitlisted at a BB for over a week now after having attended the superday. All my friends have already received rejections and there are a number of superdays coming up this week at other banks in the area. Realistically, what are my chances of an offer at this point? And how many kids are usually waitlisted at one time?
