BCG No Offer - "Good Fit, Good Case, Not Creative" - Can I reapply in 6 mos / or now to a different office??

Hi All,

I recently got bad news from my BCG final round interview. Apparently I was very engaging on the fit portion and I solved the case and quant but my answers were "canned." On top of all this my current VC firm is shutting down and I don't know what to do. I applied before as an experienced candidate two years ago and also made it to the final round before getting dinged. I don't want to sound desperate, but I feel like I was so close this time around that I should go through the process again as soon as possible while the interview skills are fresh. From folks familiar with the consulting recruiting process, could I just reapply to another nearby office and move or should I wait 6 months and try again. What will it look like trying a third time?

If he brought up the opportunity to apply again on a shorter notice than usual, I would definitely take it.

There is a lot of de-averaging among rejected candidates, and to be within the "deserving of another shot" list is really encouraging. Usually, most no-gos are tied to personality/fit and/or problem solving skills, and those candidates are very unlikely to be ever given an offer.

One advice I'd give is to be extremely sharp on your second try; as someone who's been through at least 4 BCG interviews and left a good impression, you can be 100% sure any interviewer will really hold you to the highest of standards.
