The other day, someone wrote a post on here inquiring about other creative ways to make money outside of one's job. On another site (AnalystForum.com), one of the users was selling a Bear Stearns t-shirt on eBay. As it turns out, there are over 300 other "Bear Stearns" items listed on eBay.
300 pieces of company merchandise is pretty impressive, but at least it's a good thing that Bear employees have the presence of mind to do whatever it takes to protect their financial situation. After all, it didn't take long for BSC shares to lose 90% of their value, but at least its employees won't be fooled again and are smart enough to liquidate their Bear Stearns t-shirts, stress balls, coffee mugs (used), and duffel bags before those too become worthless as well.
Anyone else have creative ways to raise some extracurricular funds?
I actually did search on EBay for 'investment banking' hoping to find some good books or case studies or something and what I found was a ton of BSC stuff. I thought that was funny too.
I wish I had snagged one of those 'I invested in LTCM and all i got was this lousy t-shirt' t-shirts back in the day.
You can go to a mall on black friday, steal the best parking space and then sell it for 50 dollars. I did that once.
Or you can go to your football game days (if you have a good team) and sell a parking spot near the stadium that you parked at the night before the game....$150 (depending on the game)
there's some pretty serious Bear Stearns merchandise on ebay. $170 for a polo shirt, $260 for a teddy bear, and $102 for a copy of a printed global equity research report, presumably their last one ever (??). not too shabby.
you never know, could become prime collector items one day
