Being an Actuary in Investment Management.

Dear all,

Would you share your knowledge/experience/resources on how becoming an Actuary could help one pursue a career in asset management?

  1. What kind of Financial Services companies hire actuaries in a Finance/Risk Management role? - is this practice prevalent throughout the industry?
  2. What kind of roles would one be limited to, if he pursues the Society of Actuary exams to work in investment management?

I have read (almost) everything I can find on the internet.. but most are generic talk/knowledge shared by non-actuaries working in investment management.. or shared by actuaries working in fields other than investment management.

Any and all guidance will be much appreciated - specially if you are an actuary, and work in investment management, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
