Being discrete when applying to buy side

When you apply to buy side firms doing the same sector as what you do on the sell side, then your boss probably knows them. Is it necessary to take any precautions here? I know that the multi-strat guys get it but I'm thinking of a long only guy that my boss knows well.

Generally, buy-side ppl are very understanding of your situation and will keep it confidential. No matter how tight they are with your boss.
