Besides the money, what makes IB worth it?
I know IB pays and gives amazing exit ops, but can any analysts and up share some experiences they have had that keep them grinding? I want to make sure all of this work really does have a pay off besides monetary benefits
The feeling of seeing your MD getting tossed by the client firsthand. Nothing in the world like it.
Models & Bottles - excel models and cans of empty redbull bottles you drank at Sunday 3am to be exact.

I wouldn't be doing this job if it wasn't for the money so....
Telling college sophomores you're going to work in IB when you're a senior.
Once you start actually working it's pretty much all downhill from there...

It's not
The payoff is you set yourself up for a high-paying and prestigious career with very strong lifetime earnings potential. There's few careers that position you as well as IB does.
The reality is that as an analyst, IB is a pretty shitty job with a high burnout rate. Don't think you will get many responses about all the true perks of the job. Junior camaraderie helps get you through it. Closing deals is fun but gets old after a few reps.
If total comp got cut by 30%, most people would leave. The only real reason people stick around after the analyst/junior associate level is for the money. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
Some people find the work (not lifestyle) kind of interesting..
The money and the prestige that 90% of people don't care about anyways. Had a friend (MS SA) whose tinder date thought he was working retail at Marks & Spencer.
They don't care until you take them to yacht week or buy them that Louis bag.
It depends on your personality, but I personally enjoy being in an environment where you are working with motivated and intelligent people. The deal game can also be tremendous fun, and the job is quite dynamic - evolves rapidly as you move up and becomes higher pressure but more enjoyable.
Closing parties in exotic locations are also a blast and can be unique life experiences you'll reflect on for years.
