Best Consumer PE Funds?
Who's tops in the space? I know there are a ton of generalist funds that touch consumer, but anyone do it particularly well? Also, what are the best resources (newsletters, podcasts, books etc.) to get up to speed / stay current on the space?
TSG, Roark, L Catterton, Leonard Green are all consumer focused funds
Among the larger generalist funds... Advent, Bain, Carlyle do notable consumer deals from time to time
Leonard Green barely looks at Consumer anymore. Have been much more focused on bus. services for several years now
Any idea of culture for any of these? Interested in understanding TSG and L Catterton
Hard to compete with LVMH
In what sense? What similar roles are there?
I have heard really good things about Roark re: lifestyle, returns. Pretty hard to climb the ranks nowadays though.
Buyout: L Catterton, Roark, Sycamore (seems like Sycamore has gone downhill in recent years though)
Growth: L Catterton, TSG, KarpReilly
Would agree with the comment. However, if someone is keen on HBS, not many better places to be than Sycamore.
I thought L Catteron’s buyout has struggled in recent years and culture there is subpar can anyone shed any light?
Heard buyout is relatively tough and performance not great
Does Sycamore focus solely on distressed consumer?
They do a lot of it, not sure if it's their only focus.
