Best paying internships?
Just curious. I have a friend who was earning 50 fucking dollars an hour as a computer engineering intern at Capital One for this previous summer. 50 dollars an hour!! I'm assuming that 50 dollars an hour is just wayyyyyyy more than average but I am still curious. Are there any internships that pay this well with any companies in AM? Maybe MS? GS? Maybe just spots that pay more than the regular 10-15 an hour? Anyone with experience in this please let me know. Thanks.
Sounds pretty normal to me at least in IB but I don't know about AM. I think most SAs make $40-45 an hour, I was in that range this summer. If you do the math its usually a prorated first year analyst salary
Were you doing IB? At a big bank? If you're comfortable giving specifics I'd be very excited to hear. Maybe PM me?
Dog you're clearly new here, just search it. This is probably updated 1x/month. If youre too lazy for that, every big bank will pay $85k-$95k pro-rated over the summer i.e. you make in 10 weeks what someone making $85k/year makes in 10 weeks.
I know top quant trading shops pay like 50-60 an hour. So if your goal is to make money not just AM then quant internship might be the way to go.
There are a lot of tech companies and quant funds that not only give you a housing stipend but also like $50 to 80/hour (if that's how you want to think about it).
It's just the nature of these kinds of industries.
Some IB interns get paid 40/hour plus 1.5 times for anything over 40 hours. so if we assume 60 hours work weeks (which for IB is probs low), the weighted average per hour comes to $46.66/hour. Happens in Cali cuz of laws but I know for a fact that some groups in NY (Like CS FIG) also do this.
