Best possible situation?

Hi kings and queens,

Just wanted to start off by saying the obvious: yaaaas! That aside, does anyone else think that this is the best possible situation re election? If Republicans keep the senate, which I believe they will, there is no shot in hell taxes are going anywhere. Biden will essentially not get a single thing done that would damage wallets.

People are so happy and think that every issue is now taken care of. You can see it today with the parades. I think COVID stuff will ease up as well because the media can’t paint a disaster every day, it would ruin his presidency.

Seems to me like: no new taxes (if R majority), Biden is a figurehead that people love, and the country chills out with all of the negative stuff about well...everything.

I can’t really make a prediction for what the next four years will look like. What I would like to see is a healing of the divide we have in this country. Hopefully, that isn’t wishful thinking and we can see people come together a little bit. Biden won’t alienate/anger in the same way Trump did, and the media won’t trash him every single day. So perhaps people can realize that your political opinions don’t  define you as a good/bad person.

I mean people are just going to think the country is a way better place and problems are basically over. I guarantee the COVID talk is going to cool waaaaay down. I’m not sure why conservatives are so mad because with R senate nothing is going to happen to taxes. My concern was getting destroyed in taxes which isn’t going to happen.

As I see it people will be so preoccupied with how seemingly amazing things are going in the country that the constant vitriol will calm down. Need a stimulus, that keeps the stock market going, no new taxes which helps. Voila.

Yeah I predict that they will allow Biden to enact some B.S policy for a short while, and then cool the talk WAY down. That paired with the vaccine and we'll be back to normal soon.

This is the outcome I wanted, Biden presidency with a slight Republican Senate.

I'm hoping that policies I like from Biden will be passed. And policies I don't like from Biden won't, because the Republicans will block the sbit out them. With 51-52 Senate seats for the GOP and with 2 moderate Republican senators, the moderate Republican votes will matter A LOT. That ought to puts radicals from both sides in check.

It’s possible these next few years will be the last time we have anything close to this. I think as the AOCs of the world rise to power our definition of “moderate” will be along the lines of Elizabeth Warren.

I personally think that won't happen. Unfortunately, I'm part of the generation that borderline worships AOC and the like. People have an idealistic view of the world and think that under these leaders, all discrimination and poverty will be completely and totally eliminated. They don't give a shit about taxes or jobs or stocks or anything about the economy in general.

I'm counting on the fact that my generation grows up, goes into the real world, realizes that AOC will NOT make the world a heavenly utopia and that the economy IS important. It might take a while, but they'll mellow down and find their way to the Republicans. At the same time, CNN and unhealthy amounts of social media have got them brainwashed so there's really no way of saying.

For EVERYONE above who said the Senate staying republican is important. Do NOT just fucking post about it on a random forum. Put your fucking money where your mouth is and donate to the GOP senators who are involved in the run-off. The polls as we know are NOT always accurate. Do not rely simply on teh fact that media states "it's like to stay republican"

Put, your, money, where, your, fucking mouth is. If not, then don't complain if dems snag those seats and Kamal is the tie breaker.

At the moment, I am not focused on the senate.  I am thrilled beyond words that Biden will replace Trump as the next POTUS.  What we experienced in the past four years was not normal and it is time to bring back some normalcy to the white house.  Kamala and Joe gave great speeches tonight and the conclusion when all of their family members took the stage was terrific to see.  Joe can work with republicans to get things done.    I feel extra proud to be an American today.

Yeah except the president doesn’t “work to get things done.” That is the senate’s job and with the amount of vitriol on both sides right now don’t count on it. With R senate Joe will not get nearly anything done, namely that 60% income tax pipe dream of the left.

Enjoy your time in the sun though, this will be quite an amazing four years from a policy making perspective.....

NOTTTTT

Eh doubt the covid talk “cools way down” right now. I hope not at least. Need to have any elected official not pushing mask mandates flogged in the street. If they do not do that then every nursing home, restaurant, bar and school in the U.S. is going to have a really bad fucking winter. Going to really put up big #’s on deaths soon if hospitalizations keep growing like they have been.

Not going to be ‘right now.’ But when he is sworn in I think the narrative will change to something like: “even though case counts are rising, deaths are down...etc”

Unless the Denmark strain of covid or some other one becomes the dominant strain and is completely resistant to covid antibodies, covid talk will decrease relatively early in Biden’s first term because we will have so much immunity from either natural infection or vaccines that it will not be as serious a issue. Unfortunately there may be another 750k+ die between now and then if we don’t get mask usage up and mobility down.

I guarantee they are going to more than downplay it. Did you see the streets of NYC/DC today? Thousands of people out everywhere. The media was apart of the celebration. Done are the days of them freaking out about restaurants and shock headlines (come Jan).

They can’t keep doing what they’ve been doing to Trump since they are in favor of Biden. If they start off Biden’s presidency constantly hammering how bad COVID is every day? They’ll take the reasonable stance that all you could do is try mitigation, there is no controlling it (see: the situation in every country of a similar scale regardless of approach).

They had masks on.

Are you being intentionally obtuse or are you just naturally devoid of the ability to think critically?

I hate Donald Trump, but think its patently ridiculous that the media may downplay COVID going forward since he's no longer in office.

"May" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, champ.

I've seen plenty of reports of all time high daily cases.
