Best Real Estate Development Books/Guides?

I'm a small developer looking to develop $1M-$10M properties. I'm currently reading "Professional Real Estate Development: The ULI Guide to the Business".

Do you guys have any personal favorite books/guides on real estate development?

Most Helpful

For pro forma - Staiger's Foundations in Real Estate Financial Modeling

For entitlements (specific to CA) - I just read CA planning and land use law plus local muni general plan/zoning code, etc..

For construction management which is newer to me - I picked up Project Management in construction by Levy. (disclaimer: I haven't really dug into this yet, but from scanning it looks promising.)

While these are all great texts, nothing beats experience and not being afraid to ask questions.

I see so many developers shy away from asking "stupid" questions. You pay your consultants for a reason and they are there not only to do the work, but also to educate you..

They can see right through your attempt at trying to display understanding lol
