Best real estate firms for starting a career in real estate
What are the best companies (PERE, brokerage, IB, REITs) for a recent graduate to start a career in real estate? The common ones I have heard thus far are Eastdil, Blackstone, Starwood. any insights?
Morgan Stanley REI
PERE - Blackstone Development - Hines Brokerage - JLL (depending on team and location)
CBRE is defintely better than JLL
Brokerage is way too market / team specific to call. Eastdil on the sales side, HFF does a great job in their markets, and CBRE has a rotational (wheel program) that I've heard good things about.
I would definitely say that HFF/Eastdil is at the top of the food chain, with CBRE/JLL/CW/NKF being market specific.
Cush Wake has the P.R.E.P program. @rrefinn" Eastdil typically provides the strongest exit opportunities into REPE. Not to C&W, JLL, CBRE, HFF could not provide great exit opps to REPE also.
In general, on the buy side, anywhere that has a somewhat reasonable sized discretionary capital base ($1BN+). Discretionary capital is critical. Obviously reputation, firm culture, etc are all important considerations.
