Best way to get pre-IPO financial statements?
Trying to build a model of a company that's existed for decades now but only IPO'd a couple of months ago. What would be the best way (or normal way) to get the financial statements prior to the IPO? Would those be considered public information?
This should all be in the s1, at least for a few years pre-IPO. How far back do you need?
I think companies typically only provide the recent three years when they go public. There'd be no way to obtain financials prior to that.
I've seen transaction agreements where the language stated that a company couldn't go public until three years after the transaction occurred. This way it would never show up in a public audit somewhere. One example is a significant royalty buyout for a celebrity who doesn't want people to know how rich they are.
You can often get partial financial statements and financial data if you look at annual filing of company in the time it goes public. As I get on PreIPOPros(dot)com about the recent company's IPO prospects and valuation for the investment purpose.
